WHAT TO DO - BIG ISLAND HAWAII

Image
WHAT TO DO - BIG ISLAND As you might have guessed Big island is the biggest island of the Hawaiian islands and is continuously growing as its volcanos continue to erupt. There are endless amounts of adventure on the Big island, so here are some of the best things to do. 1. Volcano There are numerous ways of seeing lava on the island. An open door helicopter tour will set you back around $350 but is a once in a life time experience and would be well worth it. You need to book well in advance so unfortunately we didn't get too do this. A boat tour is around $200 and is also meant to be cool or you can go to the volcano national park and walk across the lava fields for free, we were told to stay after dark as the place glows up. When we were there the volcano was pretty much off limits because it was properly going off so we never seen any lava, only the glow which was still cool. 2. Cliff jumping  South Point The most southernly point of the USA. The wooden ...

HIDDEN JUNGLE WATERSLIDE - WHITE ROAD HIKE

Image
WHITE ROAD HIKE This hike was so sick that we actually done it twice. It is definitely one of the best things to do if you are on the Big Island of Hawaii. The hike is considered trespassing and so it is illegal, if you get caught you will get cited and have a date in court. #YOLO. We left our treehouse in Hilo at around 4.30am (We had to give the rental car back by 10). Head to Waimea in the north of the island, its about a 1 hour drive. (Wouldn't recommend staying in a treehouse, it was in the middle of nowhere and very scary at night) White Road is where you park, the hike starts at the top of the road, don't park right at the top. The road has houses on it, with dogs, the dogs are mental, reckon they could eat you, so be prepared. Once you get to this gate at the end of the road, hop it and just follow the path. This land is private and we were told that there are often guys trying to make money off of people trying to do the hik...

HIKING ON O'AHU

Image
HIKING ON O'AHU Hiking is a must do activity for anyone on the island of O'ahu. There are hundreds of different hikes for all levels of adventure and madness. Here are a few that we have done... 1. Haiku Stairs  Haiku stairs better known as the stairway to heaven is one of the most famous hikes in the world. However being on the stairs in trespassing and it is illegal and they take it pretty seriously with a  guard on duty almost 24/7 and a fine of $1000 if you get caught. Nevertheless people still do it. We started the hike from the back through the Moanalua valley. The trail start is pretty straight forward with a around an hour hike into a forest, you eventually get a dead end where you cross the river and look for the tree that says the "Middle Ridge" follow that path. The path takes you up the valley.  It can get very narrow at some points but there are ropes to help you up, they are very necessary if it's wet. At the ...

Secret 400ft waterfall - Road to Hana Maui

Image
MAUI'S BEST KEPT SECRET  The road to hana is Maui's biggest tourist attraction with around 2.4 million visitors per year. The road is 52 miles long with 600 turns and 59 bridges, 46 of which are one lane. The road is set out with mile markers which give you an indication of where you are because theres no 4G on Road to Hana, so do your research to find out where to stop but theres something cool at every mile. The road has literally thousand of waterfalls but there was one that we were looking for in particular. Finding the best places to stop that are not filled with tourists can prove difficult, especially when the local people won't tell anyone where anything cool is. I know this because I messaged about 50 people on Instagram asking and got replies like "sorry bro, we don't roll that way" or they just didn't know where it was. Fair enough, they don't want the most beautiful places in the world turning into tourist attractions. We ha...

CLIFF JUMPING O'AHU If you are on O'ahu and not planning on getting sendy, you are in the wrong place. Here are some of the best spots to send it: 1. Kapena Falls  Kapena Falls was used for scenes in the TV series "Lost". Located just off the Pali highway, cross the Nuuanu Memorial park down to the river and head left, if you get lost ask one of the homeless people for directions they are very nice. This 40ft jump and is a pretty safe one despite the signs. There are warnings of Leptospirosis a bacterial infection spread by animal pee but its rare just don't go in the water if you have open wounds (Remember to let go of the rope swing) (Watch this, it will make your day better)   https://www.instagram.com/p/BkEN17QFO68/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=ueix3frg8hz4  2. Spitting Caves  Located on the south east shore of the island. You walk down a narrow lane in between cliff houses to get to the edge. This is probably the most da...
